Too, Athos will be facing more surgery in the not too distant future. Pity unnecessary, but prayers greatly appreciated. More information will be forthcoming. Thanks!

MSM Follies, Crowds and Power
Simply astonishing. That is how anyone with even an amateur's knowledge of Girard's mimetic theory would describe the preposterous naivete of the progressivist news organizations covering the Egyptian revolution.
It is indeed fortunate that Ms. Logan, the CBS correspondent, who was assaulted survived with her life. Does anyone even cursorily understand crowds and power?
And, lest anyone think this is a case unique to the Scimitar street-mob mentality, do not forget this close to home.

Sacred Page
Jeff Miller - The Curt Jester - brings to our attention a new blog: The Sacred Page. For Girardians, it has a nice twist of ambiguity to it, even tho' it comes straight from Dei Verbum.

Major Earthquake Devastates Central Italy
L'AQUILA, Italy -- A powerful earthquake shook this medieval town in central Italy early Monday morning, killing more than 150 people, leaving tens of thousands without a home and damaging many of the centuries-old monuments that make up the city's rich cultural heritage.
Many of the buildings in L'Aquila that collapsed or were damaged were centuries-old monuments. The back of the 13th-century Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio, founded by the future Pope Celestino V, collapsed, leaving the church "open on the back," said Giuseppe Proietti, secretary-general of Italy's Culture Ministry. The dome of the Church of Blessed Souls also caved in, he said.

Fire at Holy Name Cathedral
Holy Name Cathedral in downtown Chicago is a very special place for my wife and I. We pray that the fire that broke out this morning around 5:30am is contained and has not damaged the structure beyond repair.
